Wanderlust EI&I plan is low cost health insurance designed for digital nomads, expatriate & remote workers. Quick, Easy, Safe & Reliable, we seek to provide a blanket of security for our customers and ultimately to bring affordable healthcare to everyone, anywhere and everywhere.

Both are Global Healthcare plans, EI&I has a plan limit of $500,000, IHP limit is $2,000,000. However, IHP provides coverage for chronic conditions, notably cancer whereas EI&I does not.

You are covered for travel anywhere in the world outside of your home country, with the exception of any country or area that is sanctioned. Wanderlust complies with US, UK, EU and UN sanctions.

The EI&I plan is 12 months, however you can buy it for a shorter period (minimum 30 days).

When you first subscribe, your monthly premium is locked in for 12 months and cannot increase provided your subscription is continuous and you don’t cancel during the term. After 12 months, your coverage will cease under your existing plan.

When you subscribe to a new EI&I plan, you will be subject to the terms & conditions prevailing at that time.

The main difference is that in travel insurance, if you make a claim, the insurer will pay for emergency medical treatment, but then will return you to your home country as quickly as possible, at which point the claim is closed, any ongoing treatment is therefore your responsibility and/or as provided by your home country provider.

With Wanderlust EI&I plan, in the same situation, you can elect to remain and continue treatment where you are (or choose to return to your home country if preferred). As a practical matter, if working from your new found home and you break a limb for example, you’d likely prefer to carry on with life as normal rather than be sent back to your home country.

Almost everyone is eligible to purchase the plan. The exceptions are:
If you were born less than 14 days ago.
If your age is 60 or older (we may consider older persons upon application)
If your home country is sanctioned. If you, as an individual, are sanctioned under any of the sanctioned regimes.
You are a US Resident.

Yes, up to two (2) children under 10 years of age per adult purchasing the plan are included free of charge.
Yes you can. You can buy all Wanderlust products anywhere, anytime.

No, it does not. Wanderlust EI&I together with all Wanderlust products are specifically designed to provide medical and other travel-related benefits while you are traveling outside of your home country. Wanderlust EI&I is not major medical insurance. For U.S. citizens, EI&I Insurance only provides incidental coverage in your home country for up to 30 days out of each 90 days of coverage. Your return to your home country cannot be for the purpose of obtaining treatment for an illness or injury that began while traveling and you must continue your international trip after your visit home.

Important notice and disclaimer concerning the United States Patient protection and Affordable Care Act:
This insurance is not subject to, and does not provide certain insurance benefits required by the United States’ Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“PPACA”).

PPACA requires certain US citizens or US residents to obtain PPACA compliant health insurance, or “minimum essential coverage.” PPACA also requires certain employers to offer PPACA compliant insurance coverage to their employees. Tax penalties may be imposed on U.S. residents or citizens who do not maintain minimum essential coverage, and on certain employers who do not offer PPACA compliant insurance coverage to their employees. In some cases, certain individuals may be deemed to have minimum essential coverage under PPACA even if their insurance coverage does not provide all of the benefits required by PPACA. You should consult your attorney or tax professional to determine whether this policy meets any obligations you may have under PPACA.

Yes, your EI&I plan covers you on your visits home, but only when you are returning home for a visit and cannot be for the purpose of obtaining treatment for an illness or injury that began while abroad. For every 90 days, you are covered for up to 30 days in your home country for unforeseen eligible medical conditions.

If you stay in your home country longer than 30 days, your coverage is void until you leave. The coverage resumes once you are out of the country again. You can’t accumulate extra days; only 30 days are available per 90-day period.

Yes you are, for your own eligible medical expenses. EI&I is designed to cover your daily life. The exceptions to this (which are not covered) are:

  • Professional Sports, if you are a professional athlete or instructor, while practicing or competing.
  • Any sporting activity where you receive incentives of any kind.
  • Racing
  • Failure to wear proper safety equipment
  • Intoxication and/or being under the influence of illicit drugs / narcotics
  • Failure to be properly / legally licenced
  • Personal Liability
No, once you've purchased a short term (less than 12 month plan) the plan is non-refundable after the policy has incepted.

Your Wanderlust Healthcare plan is active as soon as the first monthly premium has been paid to your Wanderlust Agent.

To keep your plan active, your premium is due on the same day of the month each month until the expiry of the plan. During this period, your monthly premiums will remain the same until the plans natural expiration (12 month period).

After your plan has expired, you will be able to apply for a new plan where, if your application meets our prevailing underwriting criteria at that time, the terms & conditions may differ from your expired plan.

During the term of your plan, if your premium is not received on the due date, you have until the following month due date to pay the overdue premium. If the premium is not received the plan will be cancelled back to the original missed premium payment due date. If you have an ongoing claims situation, you must continue to meet all premium installments due for the entire 12 month duration of the plan. It is understood and agreed that failure to pay the entire plan premiums will result in the denial of and/or any further payments on your claim. Should your plan expire for non-payment of premium, you will not be able to reinstate your expired plan, you must reapply for a new plan which, if your application meets our prevailing underwriting criteria at that time, the terms & conditions may differ from your expired plan.

No, you cannot make changes to an existing plan, including adding US coverage to an existing plan that does not already include the coverage.

You can cancel your plan and start a new one. Note that you will be subject to the new terms and conditions of the new plan, including a reset of your plan deductible. Claims you made under your previous plan will be considered to be pre-existing conditions under your new plan.

In the event you or another person covered under the Wanderlust EI&I Plan has a medical emergency within the USA, please call 911. If you are in another country please contact an ambulance or the local emergency phone number for that country.

You can go to any licensed hospital/clinic/doctor of your choice, private or public.

For the hospitals and doctors in our U.S. Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) network, direct billing is often an option, with the medical office submitting the bills directly to the Plan Administrator so that you don’t have to pay upfront and wait for reimbursement. After any visit, you will need to submit a claim.
